Producing Services
Picture this, you’ve put together an absolute ripper of a show. But finding an audience? Marketing your show? Budgeting? Urgh. Let's face it, self-producing a show can be overwhelming and the workload is demanding, to say the (very) least.
Got an idea or a show? Here’s where we come in.
Working with a great independent theatre producer can be a game-changer. It can be the difference between doing a one-off season or touring and developing the show further. You’ve spent countless hours creating the show, or just daydreaming about your idea, so let’s give it the credit and life it deserves.
Our approach at MILKE is artist-led. We’re in your corner and will work *with* you, bringing our expertise and networks along for the ride.
We all have different skills, and ours is most definitely producing. We’re not writers or performers (that’s your job!) but we do know exactly how to take ideas and develop them into a show, or get your existing show out to an audience and beyond.
If these sound familiar, MILKE can help you!
- Have a teeny tiny idea for a show and want help to bring it to life on stage
- Have a show (full stop) and no idea what to do next
- Have a show that’s already great but need help to tour it
- Be okay with most parts of producing but need help with a few things like marketing or pitching
We can’t promise you a sold-out show, but we’re damn good at what we do, and we’ll build all the right foundations to give your show every chance of success it deserves.
what is a producer?
We get it, a lot of people don’t know what a producer does. The truth is, each producer comes with a different skill set. Just like other creatives, we're all different.
Ready to have a team behind your production?
Your idea and our experience go hand-in-hand.
You might need our help with strategy, it might be our checklists and spreadsheets, it might be our extensive networks and industry contacts, it might be something else entirely. We love what we do, and we’re pretty good at it too – we *live* for this stuff!
Some of our favourite jobs include pitching shows to our networks and showcases, and finding the right venue fit for you. We can also take care of things like touring, marketing, even budgets – and we make it happen all while you do your own brilliant creative work on the show itself.
We base our producing services on what you need, using our 20+ years of experience and all kinds of useful (and amazing) industry connections. Some of the bits we can do for you are:
- Project Producing
- Strategic Planning
- Tour Development
- Marketing & Social Media Strategies
- Budget Management
Oh, and we’re happy to work on one-off shows, work you’ve already got out there, or shows you want to keep building in the long term.
Frequently Asked Questions
As we said, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all here. We’ll chat about your idea or show and what you need, and come up with something to suit your budget. It could be a set fee or a percentage of the box office. We’re happy to chat and find a solution that fits.
We get it can be hard to know whether it’ll be best to go it alone or bring in a theatre producer like us.
The truth is, we can’t produce every single show ourselves, and we won’t try and sell you on something you don’t need. So, if we’re not the right fit, we’ll send you the way of someone who might be, or we might be able to help you through our mentoring or courses.
Oh, and bringing in a producer doesn’t mean you don’t have a say or you don’t need to have input. We’re led by you and work with you as a team to get the best results.
It really depends on the project. Maybe you’ve already done the first season of your show without a producer but need someone to step in and take things to the next level. Maybe you want a producer at the start of the idea to cover all producing aspects from the get-go and work with you from the start.
Our advice here is to always ask a producer what they can bring to the table or what they see in you. It’s like any kind of relationship, you need to see if it’s the right fit (and when it is, it’s so bloody good!).
How good would it be to focus all your energy on your show and leave the budget management, marketing and networking to someone else?
When you get the right dynamic between the artist and producer, THIS is when the really good stuff happens. (We’ve seen it, we’ve lived it, it’s golden!) We’ve helped bring incredible shows to life. Want yours to be next?
